Vladimir was born in Germany, but spent most of his life in Estonia, USSR. He began playing trumpet in his early years, and was content until the first time he watched a fellow student playing drums. "My eyes were fixed on the drums", Vlad says, "The desire to play drums consumed me".
He knew then that this would be his life passion, and at the age of fourteen was able to acquire a drum kit off the underground market.
He recieved private lessons from a professional drummer and learned rudimentary techniques. Then he received a gift from his future brother-in-law of a reel to reel player with numerous tapes of bands including the “Beatles”, “Rolling Stones”, “Deep Purple”, and “Pink Floyd”. This music was a huge influence on Vlad!
In 1980 he, and some fellow comrades, became Rock Stars in their country and toured extensively in Russia, and Sweden until 1993.
When he first came to the US, he fell in love with our culture, and decided to move to NY,NY. Eventually he made his way down south and now lives in Spring Hill, Fl with his wife and daughter.
Vladimir also enjoys other musical genres such as jazz, and progressive rock, and fusion. His precise, dynamic, and powerful drumming is the engine that drives “Rock Steady”!
